David Casey Wine Country Power Line Fire AttorneyDavid. S. Casey, Jr. is the senior partner at CaseyGerry, San Diego’s oldest plaintiffs’ personal injury law firm founded in 1947.  A third-generation attorney, David joined his late father’s firm in 1976 after working as a prosecutor in the San Diego City Attorney’s office and trying over 70 jury trials.  A graduate of USD School of Law, David leads the firm in obtaining multi-million dollar results each year in a complex range of cases and has achieved dozens of high profile verdicts and settlements over his nearly 40-year legal career.

David has taken leadership roles in a number of complex litigation matters throughout his career.  In 2016, he was appointed to the plaintiffs’ steering committee for the multidistrict litigation that resulted in Volkswagen agreeing to pay nearly $15 billion due to its diesel emissions cheating scandal, resulting in the largest consumer claims action in recent U.S. history.

Earlier this year, Casey was again appointed to the plaintiffs’ steering committee for the Eco Diesel litigation against Fiat Chrysler automobiles.  Similar to the VW claims, the plaintiffs allege Fiat Chrysler installed emissions- cheating devices.

At the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Casey played a lead role in the development of the Victims Fund for those who suffered from 9/11 in both its implementation and effectuation.  Casey also successfully represented Gray Davis, former Governor of California, in the tobacco litigation.  He represented American POWs in litigation for having been treated as slave laborers during World War II and his firm was co-counsel in the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill litigation.  He also represented Honda dealers in one of the most massive fraud schemes on Honda dealers in the history of the United States.

Casey also handles cases involving high profile athletes, including seeking to hold the tobacco industry accountable for baseball legend Tony Gwynn’s death.

Casey has been lauded with numerous professional awards, including a perpetual award in his honor, the “David S. Casey, Jr. Consumer Advocate Award” from the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego.  He has recently been named among the “Top 100 attorneys in California,” the “Top 30 Plaintiffs’ attorneys in California” and has been inducted into the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego’s Past Presidents Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame.

A native of La Jolla, he enjoys traveling with his wife Lisa and two grown children, as well as a good game of tennis.
