Summary: Early in morning of October 9, 2017, near Ukiah in Mendocino County, PG&E identified a wire down and broken tree near structure 0/8 of the Potter Valley Mendocino 60kv transmission line in Potter Valley. PG&E's meteorology department determined that the wind speeds at that time were 40 to 50 m.p.h. at nearby remote automated weather stations. As part of its process, Cal Fire has taken possession of part of the downed conductor. PG&E found the top section of a broken tree near where the downed conductor was located. The tree appeared to be rooted approximately 60 feet from the transmission line. This information is preliminary and PG&E is fully cooperating with Cal Fire.
